How do I download sessions for offline use?

Ombient lets you download sessions for offline listening from the player.
Once a session is downloaded, you can play it without an internet connection.

How to download a session

  • Open the session you want to keep.

  • Look for the download option in the player.

  • Start the download and wait for it to finish before you go offline.

A download needs the connection for longer than simply starting a session does, so it is worth doing while your connection is good rather than at the moment you need it.

When downloads are worth it

  • A flight, a commute underground, or anywhere with no signal.

  • A session you use every day, so it never depends on the network.

  • A weak or metered connection, where streaming would be unreliable or expensive.

Downloading before you need a session is the difference between a practice that happens and one that does not.

Downloads and storage

Audio files are the largest thing Ombient keeps on your device, so downloads are what fill up space.
Clearing the app cache from your Profile settings frees that space by removing the downloaded files. Your account, plan and progress are untouched, and you can download the sessions again whenever you need them offline.

If a download will not finish

The two usual causes are an unstable connection and not enough free storage.
The article about downloads not working goes through the steps, and if it still fails, write to us from Contact Us in your Profile or at [email protected] with the session name and your free space.
