What is the Portal in Ombient?

Written by Evan Johnson

Portal is a tab where you set up a session your way.
You choose a duration, a final sound, and a soundscape or theme such as Night, Water or Rain.
Once set, you start the session and relax into it.

How Portal works

In Portal you build your own soundscape using layers arranged in circles.
Each layer is a separate track or sound. By turning layers on or off and adjusting them, you change which tracks play and how they blend together.
This lets you create a custom background for focus, rest or sleep instead of listening to a fixed session.

What you can control

In Portal you can:

  • Set how long the session lasts.

  • Choose a final sound that plays when the session ends.

  • Pick a theme (for example Night, Water or Rain) that defines the base sound palette.

  • Adjust the layers to switch between different tracks and shape the overall sound.

Use Portal when you want a flexible, self designed session rather than a guided course or fixed track.
